Base first.
Blacktop second.
Four Generations, One Crew

Good Paving Starts Below the Surface

Anyone can spread hot asphalt. What separates a driveway that holds up for twenty years from one that cracks in three is the work nobody sees afterward: grading the base, compacting it properly, and getting the drainage right before a single truckload of blacktop shows up. That’s the part a four-generation paving crew doesn’t skip.

Porter walks every site himself, residential driveway, commercial lot, or private road, and gives you the bid. His crew handles the grading, the base work, and the paving. No subcontractors bouncing between companies, and no surprise change orders once the trucks show up.

Every Surface, One Crew

What We Pave

One crew handles driveway paving, parking lot paving, private road paving, and sport court paving, all the way through tear-outs and asphalt overlays. Here’s the rundown.

Driveways

New asphalt driveways for homes, and full replacements for cracked, sunken, or patched-over driveways that have run their course.

Parking Lots

New lots and full repaves for retail, offices, and apartment properties, built to carry daily traffic without breaking down early.

Private Roads and HOA Streets

Shared roads the city does not maintain. We work with HOA boards and neighbor groups splitting the cost, and schedule the work around driveway access for the whole street.

Sport Courts

Graded flat and compacted before any blacktop goes down, so the court plays true instead of pooling water in the low spots.

RV Pads

Standalone pads and long driveways built to carry the weight of a motorhome, trailer, or work truck without settling.

Overlays and Tear-Outs

A fresh layer over a solid existing base, or a full tear-out and repave when the old surface and base are both done. We will tell you honestly which one your property needs.

General contractors bring us in as the paving sub on new construction and remodels. Property managers and HOA boards get one point of contact for the whole job, and can fold paving into a broader commercial asphalt maintenance plan.

Asphalt or Concrete

An Honest Comparison

We only pave asphalt, so take this for what it’s worth: here’s the straight answer, not a sales pitch.

Asphalt

Costs less to install than concrete

Flexes with our freeze-thaw winters instead of cracking like a rigid slab

Comes back to a like-new look every few years with sealcoating

Ready for regular traffic in 1–2 days after paving

Small problems get caught early with routine crack filling and repair

Concrete

Generally lasts longer overall

Costs more upfront to install

Cracks are harder to patch invisibly once they show

Needs longer to cure before regular use

Not a service we install, but we’re happy to talk through the tradeoffs

Gravel to Asphalt

Turning Gravel Into Real Blacktop

A lot of paving calls start with a gravel driveway that has had enough: ruts after every rain, gravel migrating into the yard, dust all summer. We grade the base, compact it right, and pave it into a driveway that sheds water instead of holding onto it.

It’s the same base-first process whether we’re converting gravel, tearing out a failed driveway, or paving a private road for the first time. Here’s the kind of finish that process leaves behind, on a commercial lot Porter’s crew recently sealed and restriped.

How It Works

How a Paving Job Comes Together

1

Free estimate

Call or send the form. Porter walks the site and gives you a clear, fair bid before anything is scheduled.

2

Prep and grading

Old surface removed if needed, the site graded, and drainage set so water runs off instead of pooling.

3

Base work

A compacted base laid and rolled tight. This is the step that decides whether the pavement holds up.

4

Paving

Hot asphalt laid and compacted by a crew that works fast and clean, driveway or full parking lot.

5

Cure

1–2 days to cure before regular traffic, depending on the weather. We will tell you exactly when it is ready.

“Impressed. We definitely recommend working with Porter Sealcoating & Paving. The process was simple and easy… Porter came in at a competitive price. We really like the prep work they did to clean the driveway with motorized brushes. Porter was great at communicating. “We had Porter come out to give us an estimate on our driveway back in March since our existing asphalt was slowly falling apart. These guys did an amazing job on paving and sealing our brand new driveway… I wish all other contractors were as professional and as easy to work with as Porter Sealcoating & paving is.”

FAQ

Paving Questions, Answered

Size of the area, how much prep and grading it needs, and whether it is new base or a tear-out and repave over an old one. Site access matters too: a long rural driveway on a steep grade takes more time than a flat, easy-access lot. Every estimate starts with the owner walking the property before we quote a number.

Plan on 1–2 days before regular traffic, depending on the weather. We will give you exact guidance for your project before we leave the site, and let you know if it needs extra time to firm up.

About 20 to 25 years with regular care. That means sealcoating every 3–5 years and getting cracks filled before small problems turn into potholes. Skip the maintenance and that number drops fast.

If the base underneath is still solid and the damage is mostly on the surface, an overlay adds a fresh layer without the cost of starting over. If the base has failed, alligator cracking, potholes, or sinking spots, a tear-out and repave is the honest answer. We walk the site and tell you which one your property actually needs.

Late spring through early fall, when the ground is dry and it is warm enough for the asphalt to compact properly. Wet or near-freezing conditions make it hard to get a stable base, so winter jobs get scheduled carefully around dry weather windows.
