Bridal Veil isn’t much more than a historic post office building and the waterfall it’s named for. There’s no downtown, no gas station, just a handful of houses and cabins scattered along the Historic Columbia River Highway and the gravel side roads that climb up under the cliffs. Porter’s crews run I-84 through here most weeks on the way to jobs in Hood River, Cascade Locks, and The Dalles, so a driveway or small lot out this way fits naturally into the route instead of requiring a special trip.
The cliffs keep most of this stretch shaded, and waterfall country means rain and mist for a good part of the year, so moss and algae build up on asphalt here faster than almost anywhere else Porter works. Regular sealcoating on a 3 to 5 year cycle keeps that moisture out of the surface, and the machine-scrubbing Porter does before every seal coat matters more here than most places. A lot of the older pavement along these lanes has cracked and settled over the years too, so crack filling and patching is often part of the conversation before a seal coat goes down.

No. Porter’s shop is based in Gresham, and there’s no local branch out here, just Porter and his crew passing through on Highway 84 for jobs in Hood River, Cascade Locks, and The Dalles. A stop for your driveway or lot fits into that same route.
Every 3 to 5 years is the standard cycle, same as anywhere else Porter works. The difference out here is prep: the shade off the cliffs keeps things damp longer, so moss and algae get more of a head start, and the crew spends extra time scrubbing it off before the seal coat goes down.
Yes. A lot of the properties along the highway and the side roads back toward the falls are still on gravel or old, broken-up asphalt. Porter handles the grading and base work along with the paving itself, so a long rural drive can go from gravel to a finished asphalt surface in one project.
